Blue Mountain Coffee – In a Class of its Own

With a height of more than seven thousand feet above sea level, the Blue Mountains of Jamaica provides one of the most grandiose sceneries in the Caribbean.

However, the Blue Mountains is not only known for its interesting trails and settlements, it is also known for a world-class Arabica coffee blend called the Blue Mountain Coffee.

The Blue Mountain coffee is widely known not only because of its taste but also because it is grown only in a specific area in the region.

In 1953, the Jamaican government released a decree that only the coffee in a certain region of the Blue Mountain and produced by four estates can claim to be Blue Mountain Coffee.

Other coffees in the region that do not pass these qualifications can only be called High Mountain coffee.

The process of harvesting the Blue Mountain coffee is tedious and meticulous as it is hand picked when the cherries (what the coffee beans in the region are called) ripen.

This and other factors contribute to the expensive price of this special coffee as there is a high demand for it worldwide yet the supply is not immense.

One of the famous lovers of the Blue Mountain coffee is renowned author Ian Fleming, known to have created the great 007 agent, James Bond. In one of his novels, “Live and Let Die,” Fleming had the protagonist, James Bond, declaring Blue Mountain Coffee as the best in the world.

The Blue Mountain Coffee is not rare but it is also not conveniently available in all stores. There are, however, coffee companies like Country Traders who sell the coffee.

Also, with the advent of the internet, one can order and have the Blue Mountain coffee delivered right at their footsteps:-
