Going Green With Green Coffee
Environmentalism and wellness ideologies have been the bandwagon of this era and coffee is not exempt from this. In fact, green coffee has now entered the market and is steadily gaining regular patrons.
But what exactly is green coffee? It may actually refer to two things. Green coffee can mean coffee that was produced organically without harmful chemicals and traded freely.
This means that various coffee blends can be created using eco-friendly coffee beans. In the age of lobbying for greener measures in all things, coffee lovers who are environmentalists can enjoy coffee without the guilt of hurting the environment.
Green coffee in the environmental sense also means supporting locally grown beans, non-mainstream cafes in your area.
Green coffee may also mean coffee that is brewed in your home – accounting for less energy costs and transportation costs.
If you’re a coffee drinker, another way of going green is by bringing your own cup in cafes as to lessen the consumption of Styrofoam and paper cups.
The other meaning of green coffee refers to unroasted coffee beans. We have the notion that coffee beans are naturally brown but they are not. They are actually green and are just roasted to produce that rich brown color and sometimes black beans.
Green coffee is attributed to produce weight loss results due to an acid called chlorogenic acid. Roasting coffee beans kills the effectiveness of this particular acid that helps our body in breaking down harmful fatty acids.
So by drinking green coffee, you keep the chlorogenic acid alive and able to work wonders for your weight loss.
However there is a down side to the green coffee. As regular coffee depend so much on aroma that is produced during roasting, green coffee may taste bitter than usual and lack that aromatic flavor that is quite addicting in roasted coffee blends and brew.
You just have to choose between supposed weight loss results and the rich flavor of coffee.
